Fed: Shocked Pan workers face uncertain future
Shop-floor employees of disgraced vitamin manufacturer Pan Pharmaceuticals have beenshocked to hear the company falsified test results and substituted ingredients.
The Australian Workers' Union says workers spent much of today discussing whether they'llhave a job by the morning.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration yesterday suspended the company's licence forsix months, with the action leading to a recall of more than 200 Pan products.
The AWU's New South Wales secretary RUSS COLLISON says Pan's 250 manufacturing employeesknew nothing about the practices. He says staff are devastated.
He says after meeting the company's operations director this morning, he's confidentthat the workers will remain on the payroll for the time being.
Mr COLLISON says the union has also been given an absolute guarantee that all the employees'entitlements are protected.
