Qld: Govt may amend prostitution laws=2

Premier PETER BEATTIE agrees, indicating that there could be some changes planned but
says there will be no open slather system.

He has told ABC radio that the government will change the laws and there will be boutique
brothels.

Executive director of the Local Government Association of Queensland, GREG HALLAM,
denies assertions from Mr CARTER that some local councils have taken the high moral ground
for political reasons.

Mr HALLAM denies they're deliberately obstructing the approval of brothel licences.

He says councils have approved seven brothels in Queensland, despite concerns about
their location and whether they are sufficiently far away from schools and churches.
