Event: Cicero-North Syracuse DECA Team Qualifies Eight for National Competition

School: Cicero-North Syracuse High School, 6002 Route 31, Cicero

About the event: More than 2,000 business students from across New York state competed in the state DECA competition held March 4 to 6 in Rochester. Cicero-North Syracuse High School DECA sent 26 business students to the competition and subsequently took home 43 top 10 medals and had eight overall winners. The highlight of the competition came when eight Cicero-North Syracuse DECA members qualified for national competition, the third most national qualifiers ever for the school. These eight members will now have the opportunity to represent New York at International Competition April 28 through May 3 in Anaheim, Calif.

The majority of the students' events consisted of a 100-question marketing/management test, followed by two role-plays with members from the business community, challenging students' ability to problem-solve. There were approximately 50 DECA members in each event.
