WA: Retail traders not hit as hard as they feared in WA

PERTH, Dec 24 AAP - Most West Australian retailers will be relieved after Christmas
trading exceeded expectations across the state, the WA Retail Traders' Association says.

RTA director Wayne Spencer said December sales figures showed the worst fears of retail
traders about the WA economy had not been realised.

"We've got the Australian dollar and we've got a number of other items out there that
are making a mix that retailers have to work with," Mr Spencer told ABC radio.

"It's difficult, but I'm sure with the extent of the Christmas sales that a lot of
retailers will be far happier than they were back in November."
