Fed: Qld RSL knocks back Foster's shout
The Queensland RSL has opened a front against effects of alcohol abuse .. rejecting
up to 150-thousand dollars from a beer promotion.
The organisation says some veterans are also concerned Fosters chose to launch its
Raise a Glass marketing campaign over the Anzac Day period.
State president DOUG FORMBY says his branch is taking the stance largely because the
RSL is dealing with many veterans suffering the results of alcohol consumption .. as alcohol
use and its effects are rapidly becoming a wider community concern.
He says it's not an insignificant amount of money the club will be losing .. but it's
a sacrifice its members are prepared to make because they feel very strongly about it.
All other RSL and Legacy state bodies around the country are accepting the donation.
